Miami, FL – December 15tj. 2025 – Mobility Workx, LLC, a US-based research and technology development company focused on wireless technologies for mobile devices and networks, announced today that its core patent portfolio–covering essential 4G and 5G mobility handover and wireless testing technologies–has now been licensed by many of the world’s leading telecommunications and networking companies, including Samsung, Nokia, Ericsson, DISH Wireless, Charter Communications, and numerous other major infrastructure providers, network operators, and device manufacturers.
Mobility Workx’ key technologies are embodied in U.S. Patents No. 7,231,330; 7,697,508; and 8,213,417, which introduce fundamental techniques for seamless mobility handover in cellular networks as well as low-cost methods for wireless testing and certification. These essential inventions are incorporated across virtually all 4G and 5G mobile devices and underpin core mechanisms within today’s global cellular standards.
The patented technology traces back to the 2002 doctoral dissertation of Dr. Edwin A. Hernandez at the University of Florida, conducted under the supervision of co-inventor Professor Sumi Helal, Ph.D., a globally recognized leader in mobile computing and IoT systems. These early academic innovations have since become integral to the functioning of modern mobile networks worldwide.
“These patents embody foundational advances in how billions of mobile devices maintain continuous connectivity while moving across cells and networks,” said Dr. Edwin Hernandez, co-founder of Mobility Workx. “We are proud that leading industry players have recognized the lasting value of this research inventions through their licensing agreements,” said Professor Helal, co-founder of Mobility Workx.
Licensing activities and related legal matters are supported by experienced intellectual property litigators Daniel B. Ravicher of Zeisler PLLC and Michael Machat of Machat & Associates, LLP.
Dr. Hernandez and Professor Helal will be present with dedicated meeting room availability at both CES 2026 (Las Vegas, January 6–9, 2026) and Mobile World Congress 2026 (Barcelona, March 2–5, 2026), and welcome discussions with industry executives regarding the patented technologies and licensing opportunities.
